THE PLAN

TO DEFEND DORCHESTER

WHERE WE ARE

The Dorchester County Republican Party has demonstrated its prowess through strategic victories, successfully flipping key seats in the State Senate and House, thanks to the leadership of Chairman Steven Wright and the Dorchester County Republican Party's Executive Committee.

Dorchester GOP's approach has been a masterclass in grassroots organization, effective fundraising, and targeted political action that have not only defended Republican strongholds but also challenged Democrat incumbents, turning seats from blue to red.

WHERE WE'RE GOING

1. Continue the Success:

  • Maintain and enhance beloved events like the Faith Family Freedom Dinner, Spring Stump Rally, DCRP Christmas Party, social gatherings, candidate forums, and town halls with elected officials.

  • Engage past DCRP donors year-round, recruit new supporters, and build on previous fundraising achievements.

  • Lead strategic efforts to target Democratic incumbents and defend our Republican officeholders.

2. Foster a Positive & Open Environment:

  • Embrace President Trump’s unifying “big tent” approach that appeals across the ideological spectrum.

  • Welcome all Republicans and create an inclusive atmosphere where every member feels valued and heard.

3. Recruit & Retain New Members:

  • Launch a continuous effort to year round recruit and retain new members, candidates, volunteers, and future leaders.

  • Connect experienced Republican leaders with new members for mentorship, instilling party values, leadership skills, and community involvement.

  • Host an annual leadership summit featuring workshops, candidate training programs, guest speakers, and skill-building sessions.

  • Attempt to create young Republican clubs at FDHS, ARHS, and SHS.

4. Strengthen Community Ties:

  • Create a committee to organize and contribute to volunteer-driven community service events like food drives, park clean-ups, and support for community centers to foster goodwill and build trust.

  • Coordinate a 5K run/walk event to celebrate patriotism and unity, with proceeds benefiting veteran organizations or local charities.

  • Establish a scholarship fund for high school and college students who demonstrate leadership and alignment with conservative values, encouraging academic and civic growth.

  • Hold an annual event to commemorate Constitution Day with educational booths, guest speakers, and activities promoting constitutional awareness and Republican principles.

5. Communicate Our Values:

  • Implement year-round targeted social media advertising to grow membership and position DCRP as one of South Carolina’s strongest Republican parties.

  • Launch a podcast featuring conversations with party members, state officials, local leaders, and special guests discussing key policies and strategies.

  • Maintain a strong presence in local media through newspapers, radio, and TV to remain top of mind for potential members.

  • Send out monthly newsletters summarizing current legislative actions, their impacts on the community, and how they align with Republican objectives.

6. Support Republicans, Beat Democrats:

  • Collaborate with experienced committees to design and execute effective campaign mail, digital strategies, text messaging, and ground operations for robust voter turnout during partisan elections.

  • Focus efforts in the most competitive elections using data-driven insights where we may be able to gain Republican influence, or defend areas where Democrats are targeting our Republican officials.

  • Focus our party on defeating Democrats, not each other, and helping our party unite after hard fought primary elections.

  • Form grassroots action teams within the party dedicated to grassroots efforts such as door-knocking, phone banking, and organizing voter outreach events to bolster local campaigns.

7. Ensure Radical Transparency:

  • Refrain from endorsing or influencing Republican primary contests in Dorchester County, reinforcing that nominees are chosen by the people, not party insiders.

  • Provide a neutral platform for all Republican primary candidates to speak to our members or compete in candidate forums.

  • Host debates outside of normal business meetings either at live streamed online events or in person within the party or with invited guests from differing viewpoints on policy issues to sharpen discourse and showcase the depth of Republican ideology.

8. Build Coalitions:

  • Advocate effectively for Republican principles at every level of government.

  • Proactively seek partnerships with churches, veteran groups, 2nd amendment groups, education advocacy groups, and other conservative minded organizations to advocate for Republican causes and candidates.
